Ol’ One Eyed Cow Book Complete!

I am super excited to show the first edition of the childrens book I begun working on last December, O’l One Eyed Cow.

This story has been fun to work on and I owe much thanks to my wife Emily for being the grandchild of Darrell Luke, enjoying the story her father told her as a child and for pushing me to illustrate it. Which subsequently I also wrote.

The story of Ol’ One Eyed Cow is a true account based on an event of Emily’s Grandfather when he was a boy growing up. As her grandfather has since passed away, we went to her father Gaylan Luke and video recorded him recounting the tale.

From there I wrote out the story, summarizing parts and then drew out a rough story board. Using Adobe Illustrator and my Wacom tablet, I again rough sketched each page and slowly added details.

I have already made some updates after printing one copy and having it read by some of my family and will surley have more updates in the future. Possibly the addition of a page or two. Upon reflection I can envision a page that shows Carlin flying through the hay shaft. And the Luke family may have additional details to add to the story once the other members have a chance to read it.

For now I hope that many can find value and entertainment with fun story and I especially hope that the Luke family enjoys this production for years to come.

I have received lot’s of positive feedback from many and I have decided to add probably 2 pages and work on improving the graphics, mostly background elements but some foreground elements are sloppy too.

My sister has grammar fixes for me and some of the text I have changed as after reading it aloud to my own kids a few times it just did not read well at certain parts.

Look for version 2 in a few weeks.
